Monster’s house – Palazzo Zuccari

It is located at the bottom of Trinità dei Monti along Sistina and Gregoriana’s street, and it is called Monster’s house because of the shape of its door. It has a wide open mouth and its cheeks form a frame around the door. The nose acts like a headstone and the eyebrows have an eardrum shape.
The name has another important meaning or better: Monster house from monstrum like magnificent, beautiful not ordinary instead of horrible. The internal has several frescos that explain the soul of the artist, Zuccari. He has put all his artistic bent in so many naturalistic symbols, arts morality, family exaltation, done to spread it to the new generation, to make sure that his art would have continued during the years. Many noble families have stayed here and built it up during the years making it more and more beautiful, until the 1800s, when the building became the lodging that the artist always dreamed about.
